Well it's much more straight forward than most of their recent engagements with the Separatists had been. As such, it doesn't take him long to figure out the ones that hunt do their hunting — but it makes perfect sense others weren't as used to this kind of thing.
Fukawa, for example. Despite the circumstances, Obi-Wan is pleased to see her — she'd managed to avoid him the last few days in the previous car, but much of that had to do with Obi-Wan's inability to even get out of bed. Thankfully his instinct had been correct, and once he had removed himself from there he'd rapidly begun to turn around.
He's raising one finger to his lips to shush her when the ground rattles and the trees crash and he quickly transfers the movement into catching the girl to usher her into the hiding spot. Once there, he puts himself between her and whatever impending danger is stomping toward them, going so far as to spread his arms out as a physical shield to hide her behind his back. His fringe falls into his face as he lifts his chin, listening and feeling out with the Force to find the toothed creature.
Their minds are simple, but intelligent, and as soon as he touches it he realizes what the real issue here is. Hunger wasn't driving this beast. ]
